Faculty Development is a process of enhancing and strengthen teaching and research skills in the contemporary and emerging areas of management and to expose participants to recent developments in teaching and research methods. Sushant School of Business has been activity engagement in conducting Faculty Development Program on regular basis. The Faculty Development Program (FDP) intends to facilitate up-gradation of knowledge and skills of faculty. The programs are designed to enhance the teaching and other skills of the faculty. And to make them aware about modern teaching tools and methodologies. It provide an opportunity to acquire knowledge about current technological developments in relevant fields. It is not only promote the professional practices relevant to management education but also motivates the faculty to achieve competitive teaching and learning environment, thus channelizing development with respect to academic qualifications and growth.

Sushant School of Business has organized a two-day Faculty Development Program on Application of Research Methods for the faculty members. The key objective is to spur the vigour of research and to enhance the knowledge of faculty about contemporary methods in research. This program has been attended by research scholars and faculty members from the NCR region. The four sessions held during these two day program entailed the application of techniques like Structured Literature Review, Meta- Analysis and Application of different research techniques using SPSS.

Effective teaching involves making difficult choices, exercising careful judgement and innovating new pedagogies. Hence, faculty should master a longer repertoire of innovative pedagogies, instructional methods and strategies in order to remain in tune with fast changing world. Innovative Methods in Teaching (IMT) was a two-day intensive intellectual and action-based engagement Faculty Development Program organized by Sushant School of Business to improve and become better teachers/trainers. The program offered a tremendous learning opportunity to acquire skills and understand strategic tools for effective result-oriented engagement sessions

FDP on “Techniques for Effective Class Handling”

Faculty Development Program on Techniques for Effective Class Handling was conducted by SMS on 27th July 2018 from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM for faculty of SMS.

Difficulties faced by faculty in class handling and role-play by all the faculty of SMS was conducted in the first half of the session. In the second half of the session Teaching Pedagogy and Effective Classroom Management was discussed by Dr. Samiksha Ojha, Dean SMS, Ansal University.

All the faculty of SMS actively participated in the role-play activity and learned how to handle the different problematic situations while conducting the class. The expert knowledge and experience over the years of Dr. Samiksha Ojha, Dean SMS, Ansal University was invaluable to faculty.

Knowledge Sharing Series

Learning is a never-ending and life-long process. “Knowledge management” is about creating a work environment that encourages team work, collaboration, the sharing of knowledge, and continuous learning. Knowledge sharing is an activity through which knowledge is exchanged among people, friends, families, communities, or organizations. Under the guidance of Dean (SSB), Dr. Samiksha Ojha, SSB has started knowledge sharing series to share knowledge and give perspective to the faculty. The objective of Knowledge Sharing Sessions is to gain ways of new learning from your colleagues and share what you know.

Knowledge Sharing Session I:

Dean, Dr Samiksha Ojha, has initiated a series of Knowledge Sharing Sessions at SMS. Learning is a never-ending and life-long process. The purpose of these sessions is to share knowledge and give perspective to the faculty. Under the guidance of Dean (SMS), Dr. Samiksha Ojha, the first session in the series was held on September 13, 2018 and was conducted by Dr. Kirti Dutta and Dr. Pooja Rastogi. They discussed insights from the book “Creating Signature Stories” by David Aaker (ISBN 9780670091263).

The first half of the session delved on the key learnings from the book and was conducted in an engaging and interactive manner. A number of videos were shown and learnings were discussed from renowned brand’s signature story campaign. In the latter half, an activity was conducted where the faculty members had to design their own signature stories. The purpose of creating stories was to give them a chance to introspect their past events and illuminate relevant professional strengths, give a professional direction and provide a motivating rationale for future professional goals.

Knowledge Sharing Session II:

Utility of Research Tools in Scholarly Communication In this world of technological disruption, information dissemination has been moving towards transparency and symmetry. Therefore, the present session has been oriented towards usage of different tools available to researchers and applicability of these tools across different stages of research cycle. The primary objective was to create awareness among the academicians about the availability of tools. This will help them in making their research more informed and structured. The session has also described the current status of usage of different research tools among the researchers all over the world. The session has been delivered by Dr. Purnima Rao and attended by the faculties of Sushant School of Business on 14th December 2018.

Knowledge Sharing Session III:

“As a part of the Knowledge sharing series at the Sushant School of business, Ansal University, an interactive session on “The effectiveness of Business Games in the classroom” was conducted by Ms. Manpreet Kaur Uppal on the 25th of January , 2019. The session comprised of relevance of incorporating Games in classrooms as a part of the teaching pedagogy and led up to illustrate the usage of games for multi-disciplinary teaching across B schools. While the SSB faculty were not only a keen audience to the session, each one was greatly enthusiastic about participating & playing the game. A day dedicated to learning the fun way!”

Knowledge Sharing Session IV:

The knowledge sharing session on the topic “Environment Statistics with reference to India” was conducted on Feb 8 2019, by Dr. Nidhi Chowdhry. The session gave insights on environment degradation facts and issues in world and probed the India efforts regarding the same. It summarized the Envistats report 2018 published by Ministry of statistics and planning. The session analyzed data on natural capital, its calculation and various components of natural capital in India. The change in stock was discussed geographically. The session ended with a small video on how we all can make a difference if we try.

Knowledge Sharing Session V:

A Knowledge Sharing Session on “Design Thinking” was conducted on 8th March 2019 by Ms. Suman Dahiya, Faculty, Sushant School of Business. The session was very interactive. It started with the background of Design Thinking and which all companies are applying it to make their processes effective. The application was shown through a case study where a group of students solved a societal issue by applying design thinking. In the end, participants were given a scenario to apply design thinking on it and come out with multiple solution ideas. Participants really enjoyed the session and learned something unique.

Knowledge Sharing Session VI

A two-hours Knowledge Sharing Session was conducted by Dr. Surabhi Goyal on Financial Wellness and Planning for the Faculty of Sushant School of Business, Ansal University. The main emphasis of this session was to make the audience able to access their financial well ness and to plan for the retirement and other important phases of life.

Knowledge Sharing Session VII

The knowledge sharing session on the topic “Financial Literacy” was conducted on July 25, 2019, by Dr. Navdeep Barwal. The main emphasis of the session was to make the audience know about the different investment options and make them aware of the process of ITR filing.
