Prof Sangeeta Trehan, faculty at the School of Management Studies, visited IIT Madras as guest of NPTEL, IIT Madras from December 27th till Dec 30th, 2015 soon after Chennai was marred by one of the worst floods in recent times. IIT Madras has been hosting and coordinating the world-renowned National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) since its inception in 2003. NPTEL is India’s premier online education programme to create higher education contents in engineering, technology, sciences, management and humanities under a partnership among seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.
NPTEL provided gracious hospitality to Professor Trehan at their pristine Taramani Guesthouse during her visit. Her visit was a follow-up visit subsequent to her interactions with the NPTEL representatives at the National Brainstorming Sessions on “MOOCs: Scope, Development and Delivery” organized by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), a UGC body, at IHC, New Delhi on October 10, 2015. Prof Trehan interacted with the NPTEL team and collaborated with them regarding sharing and analyzing NPTEL MOOCs data to draw useful insights about the working of NPTEL courses.
