The Sushant School of Art & Architecture (SSAA) was established in 1989 by Chiranjiv Charitable Trust, a premier voluntary organization devoted to the cause of education. In the last 25 years, SSAA has established itself as one of the top three architectural institutes in the Indian subcontinent (as per the EUMD India List of Top Architectural Institutes in India by the British Council). The school is recognized by the ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA).

Dr. Vibhuti Sachdev qualified as an architect from the School of Planning and Architecture (New Delhi) in 1989. After a period spent in practice and research in India, she undertook a PhD in architectural theory at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), which she completed in 1996.
